The Wind of change
For me, it’s not just a fashion film.
This is an author’s video essay about the history and cultural heritage of Serbia.
The film is divided into four parts, each symbolizing a different period in history of Serbia – Yugoslavia, 90’s, timeless part with traditional costumes and modern part.
The film showcasing the costumes of more than ten local fashion designers, combines mixed media with traditional Balkan patterns and symbols. The music, composed by contemporary Serbian artists, is complemented by the poetry of a significant 20th-century Serbian poet Vasko Popa, which holds special importance to me.
Film was awarded “The Best Story” at the Sarajevo Fashion Film Festival and short-listed at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival.
For the first time in my life, I held a small exhibition featuring my project. It took place at my friend's art festival Rama in January 2025. I attempted to explore how I can impact the viewer through a film, without using video.
The Exhibition
Visitors were able to immerse themselves in the world of the film with the help of the audio track, film photos and the costume used during filming.
