The house we had

I nurtured this film in my heart for two years. First, I wrote the script when I was studying directing at a three-year course of A.N. Sokurov, then I submited the story to a screenwriting contest and won, getting the money prize that would help me fund the shooting.

During 2022 I traveled to my hometown Tambov and lived there for an entire month for the first time since I left it 12 years ago. For me it was very important that the actors were from Tambov, and one of the main scenes was shot in the attic of my own house where I was born.

The shooting took place in the summer’22 – the first summer after the start of the war – and this film was a huge support to me and the team in this period.

Half a year later I graduated and the film was my graduation work.
